LTC presents: ‘The Next Information Revolution’ with Dr Andrew Rickman OBE at The Arts Club

We were delighted to host a breakfast with Dr Andrew Rickman OBE – Britain’s ‘first internet billionaire’, survivor of the dot-com bubble crash and Chairman/CEO of Rockley Photonics. 

 

The most recognised pioneer in silicon photonics, Andrew successfully built and scaled several companies that commercialised academic research in this field – including Bookham Technology (a leading producer of optical communications components and a FTSE100 company) and Kotura Inc  (a leader in silicon photonics for fiber optic communications, sold to Mellanox Technologies for $82 million).

 

Rockley Photonics is a silicon photonics company providing the key enabling chipsets for next generation sensors and computing. The company has raised over $170m to date.

 

Whilst Rockley is a deep tech company, the applications of silicon photonics are set to impact many mainstream industries. We held a fascinating discussion on how this innovative technology will fuel the next information revolution and its power to transform the future ranging from consumer healthcare, driverless cars, AI and mega-data centres to quantum computing.
